The Purpose of the Downtown Eldon Historical Society is to Create a Culture of Change and Prosperity that Mirrors the Early Days of Eldon’s Growth and Success.  We can accomplish this through revitalizing downtown and supporting art, recreation and the opportunity to make choices that lead to greater health for the individual and greater

community. The dual purpose of celebrating the history and successes of Eldon, along with fostering a culture of change and prosperity strengthens the ability to serve a larger audience.  It will also create a solid foundation for Downtown Eldon's Legacy to continue for many generations into the future.

downtown eldon's original visionaries

George R. Weeks

A Prominent Farmer and the Sole Proprietor of Eldon, when he filed the plat of Eldon in 1882. He was intstrumental in bringing the first railroad to Eldon.

Robert S. Harvey

Founded the Bank of Eldon in 1894.  Harvey also owned the Harvey Mercantile with interests in other important businesses and activities.

T.J. Hart

Started the "Big Brick" in January of 1883 with E.M. Graham

Ran the "Big Brick" Mercantile store on the corner of 1st & Maple Street.

President

Shannon Imler is a hometown hero in Eldon, Missouri. He lives a life filled with family, farming, and a love for history. Growing up on a family farm, he now lives near downtown Eldon, balancing being a caring husband, dad of two, and a successful small business owner. Shannon's business not only supports his family but also uplifts the local community.

Shannon's business not only supports his family but also uplifts the local community. What sets him apart is his dedicated passion for revitalizing historic buildings in Eldon, restoring them to their former glory.

jeff hargroves

Treasurer

Jeff Hargroves is a graduate of Eldon High School in 1984. His first regular job during high school was as a tour guide at what is now known as Stark Caverns. His family acquired this business / tourist attraction in 2017 and works actively to grow and enhance this historic local treasure.

While devoted to both family and business, Jeff also values giving back to the community, particularly through educational and entrepreneurial initiatives serving those most in need. He is active in board and volunteer roles with many civic, philanthropic, private business,
and industry organizations, across Missouri.

Creative Director

Cheryl Crow is a passionate individual with a zest for life and an insatiable curiosity for the world around her. As a lifelong learner, she thrives on exploring new ideas, cultures, and experiences.

With a background in travel, art and sales and marketing, Cheryl offers a lifetime of experience as the Creative Director to the Downtown Eldon Historical Society. Whether it's delving into complex problem-solving, crafting compelling narratives, or fostering meaningful connections with others, Cheryl is driven by a genuine desire to make a positive impact.
