Rock Island Line Jubilee 1922

The band then gathered the crowd downtown to hear Mayor C. O. Brockman give credit to the Rock Island for the development in Eldon.  R. S. Harvey spoke of the changes.  In 20 years the city of Eldon grew from a village of 278 people to 3,000 and increased the taxable wealth from $400,000 to over two million dollars.  The Rock Island taxes contributed to the support of the schools.  Eldon schools increased from 125 to 750 pupils.
